What is Tenkibooks

Tenkibooks is a reading platform designed for parents who want to introduce their children to books from an early age. I was responsible for the visual identity and web UI design. The goal was to create a brand that felt warm and engaging without leaning into overly childish aesthetics.

The platform serves children, but the decision-makers are parents. The visual direction needed to:

  • Feel inviting and imaginative

  • Communicate educational value

  • Build trust and credibility

  • Avoid looking overly playful or cartoonish

Balancing warmth and reassurance was key.

The Insight

The turning point came when I reframed the audience: the product is for children, but the brand speaks to parents. That shift changed the visual approach from “fun and playful” to “nurturing and intentional.”

The final system combines:

  • Rich imagery and subtle illustrations

  • Soft, warm colour palettes

  • Friendly but refined typography

  • Structured layouts with generous spacing

Illustrations support storytelling but remain understated, ensuring the platform feels thoughtful rather than childish. The design aims to communicate reading as a bonding ritual, a shared, meaningful moment between parent and child.
